More Medical Curiosities
This part of the site is for odd, gruesome or otherwise interesting snippets I find while researching my blog posts. Often they will be medical cases not linked to advertising. There are only a few to start with, and I’ll just add things as and when I encounter them.
Some of these items are much longer than a normal blog post and I don’t expect everyone will read them word for word, but they might prove useful in some way or other. I don’t pass any comment on them or do any research around them (unless I refer to them as part of a blog post) – I just present them as they are, with a note of the source.
I’m starting with a small list, but as this section grows, I’ll work out how best to categorise them.
Sir Hans Sloane’s recipe for eye liniment (1745)
Cutting for the Stone (1754)
Death after eating a large quantity of Cucumbers (1762)
A suppurating head injury cured by trepanning (1771)
